Ruyak Media/DosEckes Film Honors Vietnam Veterans and Heroes
Free World Premier Documentary Film Screening Wednesday,
October 30 at Crest Theatre, Sacramento

SACRAMENTO – Lady Jessie: A Vietnam Story by Ruyak Media with DosEckes Productions and presenting station KVIE, makes its world premiere at a free screening event held at the historic Crest Theatre on Wednesday, October 30 at 5 p.m.

The documentary focuses on Reno’s Jessie Beck and LCDR Richard 'Dick' Perry, from nearby Carlin, Nevada. Lady Jessie traces the true story of their friendship and fate in the era of the Vietnam War. Beck’s generosity during this time of low military morale touched Perry and his squadron-mates in the Ghost Riders and the Saints. The combat pilots flew from the USS Oriskany out of Alameda, Calif., and from northern California’s Travis Air Force Base.

“Jessie Beck gave encouragement and hope to those who were fighting in an unpopular war. Her generosity forged enduring and life-changing friendships. She had such a positive impact on troops,” said Ruyak. “This story reminds us that the Vietnam War experience has an important place in modern culture and cannot be lost to time.”

Beck’s involvement with U.S. troops evolved from sending care packages to her dear friend Dick Perry, to sending thousands of packages to troops across all service branches in Vietnam. The film delves into how Navy pilots from VA-164 honored Jessie’s generosity by bringing back the long-standing military tradition of aircraft Nose Art.  They gave Jessie a legacy in the sky by painting her name on the nose of the squadron’s lead attack plane.

The documentary’s Executive Producer is Beth Ruyak with Co-Producers Suzanne Eckes-Wahl and Jim Eckes. The film was edited by Eckes and written by Eckes-Wahl.

“From the very first time we heard this story, we knew it simply had to be told,” said Eckes-Wahl. “It is an honor to bring the story of Jessie Beck and Dick Perry to a wider audience, as well as shine some light on the men of Carrier Air Wing 16, whom these two remarkable people inspired so many years ago.”

The free screening takes place 5 p.m. Wednesday, October 30, at the historic Crest Theatre in downtown Sacramento. Tickets are free and can be reserved at www.eventbrite.com/e/premiere-screening-lady-jessie-tickets-76817107035?aff=ebdssbeac. The documentary film will also broadcast on KVIE during a four-night run in November in advance of Veteran’s Day.
